Heywood Hardy (1842-1933) was a British painter known for his animal paintings, 18th-century hunting scenes, and equestrian portraits. He was born in Chichester, United Kingdom, and was the youngest of 10 children of the renowned landscape painter James Hardy Senior. Heywood Hardy's work is characterized by its depictions of animals, hunting and equestrian scenes, as well as his landscapes and portraits. He was a founding member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and the Royal Society of an associate of the Royal Watercolour Society, and part of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Two of his daughters became painters, and the eldest of them exhibited fifteen works at the Royal Academy.
